why do you blog?

Hey bloggers, ever wonder why do you blog? Or you already know the reason you blog? To be frank, I'm not an active blogger. However, I blogwalk every now and then. In case you aren't familiar with the blogosphere, blogwalk means visiting other blogs and blogosphere is defined as the atmosphere of blogging. Feel free to correct me if I get it wrong. I read quite a number of blogs, there are various types of bloggers with different objectives. Some writes about their lifestyle, fashion, food, or for the sake of earning a few bucks, marketing, passion etc. So why do I blog? Why do you blog?

Reasons to blog could be:

1. Personal

Personal as in the bloggers write about their life. It is similar with writing a diary, except not with pens and papers anymore. These bloggers share their experiences, thoughts, opinions or ideas about something they have done or yet to be done.

2. Babbling

There are also bloggers that blog because they have no peers to share with because, as far as I know, people rather talk about themselves than listening to others. Hence, these people may create a blog so they can babble about their happenings in life and what not.

3. To show off

Some people likes to show off their luxury lifestyle or how good their life is. Okay, there's no crime for showing off or sharing their happiness, but hey don't overdone it! It may be annoying at times.

4. Hobby

Some people loves to write. May it be a poem or short story, they just have the urge or need to write something, every day. It is the passion that drives them to blog.

5. To promote/market

A number of blogs are created for the sake of promoting and marketing. Food, books, clothes, accessories, services...you name it.

6. Friends and family connections

Blogs provide a simple and easy way to stay connected with friends and family at any part of the world. Close ones could view the blogger's stories, pictures and videos through blog.

7. For a memory

Some of my friends love to read back their pasts so the memories wouldn't be forgotten.

8. To make money

Blogging ain't an easy money generator as it requires full commitment, hard work and lots of patience. However, there are people who blog for living still as they could earn big bucks.

9. To make a change/difference

These are people are into political issues and views who try to influence readers in a certain direction.

10. To educate others

Bloggers may be providing information about parenting, health related, or any other certain topics of their own expertise.

11. For fame

Bloggers could even gain popularity and a reputation once their blog is successful or by having a high number of visitors daily.

12. For better improvements

Here as in having a vivid improvements in literature, language, and what not in their own ways. For instance, some bloggers find themselves express better in writing than orally.

13. Influenced by friends

Of course some people blog for wanting to stay in the circle. They decided to blog to keep up with their peers or perhaps peer pressure?

The above are the reasons that I could think of. I believe that there are still many other agendas or objectives of why people blog. As for me, I am a combination of to give my opinions, for keeping my pasts as a memory, and for better improvement in my English language. What about you? Why do you blog?

This is us, chilling at Sunway Pyramid after our final paper. Gotta admit, 7-weeks semester is really hectic and adding salt to the wound, our Mathematics 2 lecturer was very shitty and a pain in the ass. Anyhoooo, it's over now, life goes on.

Since we couldn't get any movie tickets after lunch, we did some archery.

This guy here with the bag is a pro, he shoots in the range of 7 to 10 only! Very accurate and consistent. I bet he comes here almost every week. Lol.

...and steamboat for dinner! Woots! I don't rmb the name of the restaurant, but it's just beside Sunway Pyramid. There are rows of restaurants doing steamboat in buffet style and most of them are pretty famous. This one we went to costs about RM26 per pax. Love the tom yam soup! The drinks they offer are limited though, just orange juice, tea, and mineral water. Lol.

Review: Departures (Japanese)

Finally, I get to watch this award-winning Japanese movie, Departures おくりびと (2008) last week. Departures is an extremely moving and sentimental film directed by Yojiro Takita. This movie depicts a glimpse of a Japanese profession - encoffiner.

Young cellist Daigo Kobayashi (Masahiro Motoki) and his wife, Mika (Ryoko Hirosue) move back to Daigo's small hometown after his orchestra in Tokyo is disbanded. After he answers a job advertisement in a newspaper in "assisting departures", he reluctantly becomes an encoffiner who sends the "departed" to a new journey by cleaning, dressing, and placing the corpse into a coffin. At the beginning, Daigo dislikes his job, but slowly, after being assigned for a few rituals of encoffinments, he learns the importance of his work and the role he plays in bringing closure to the family of the deceased and sending the departed to their final destination.

Mika disapproves him after she finds out about his job and hopes that he gets a "proper" and "normal" job instead. However, her perception changes after she sees his work. She begins to appreciate his husband's job as an encoffiner who possesses impeccable precision, gentleness and utmost respect.

There is no doubt that this profession is often misunderstood and shunned by most of us because we have been always avoiding to talk about the inevitable - death. Also, most people do not see it as a career. Departures tells us that death is normal. The profession is actually quite dignified as encoffiners are entrusted by the family of the deceased with the responsibility of helping the loved ones to pass on.

I enjoyed its themes of respect, reconciliation, forgiveness, and finally, being a professional and serving with pride. With its well-meaning humour and touching drama sequences, this movie is definitely worth watching!

tv-series 2: revenge

Revenge is ABC Family's new drama, and surprisingly, it catches my attention after airing the pilot episode. Since then, I idolize it every Wednesday night. Not to say that it is that exciting, but it sure is really interesting and dark. Well, maybe not for all those who can forgive-and-forget kind of people because "this is not a story about forgiveness".

The cast of revenge...this sentence sounds so wrong. 0.o

Intelligent, attractive, young and wealthy Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) integrates herself among the society's elites of the Hamptons with an intention of seeking revenge for those who are responsible for her deceased father, David Clark. Emily is born Amanda Clark, she changed her name in order to proceed with her plan of taking down a group of rich people who get her father arrested for treason many years ago, in which he does not commit and was wronged by the people involved.

Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) aka Queen Victoria is one of the most powerful and influential women in the Hamptons. She loved Emily's father and had an affair with him before his downfall. This makes her as Emily's primary target. Queen V does not see eye-to-eye with Emily as she senses that mysterious Emily is not just any the-girl-next-door and cannot be fully trusted. Her husband, Conrad (Henry Czerny) is also as powerful and wealthy as she is.

Damn, isn't Joshua Bowman cute? I think he is. Bowman plays Daniel Grayson, the only son of the Graysons. Daniel recently came back from Harvard and looking for an internship at the Hamptons. He is immediately attracted to Emily without the knowledge of her motives. He is also a drinker and used to be a playboy before he met Emily.

Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann) is a genius software inventor. Back then, his talent was only approved by Emily's father, who invested with his personal money for Nolan's development. To show his his gratefulness towards Mr Clark, Nolan tries to help Emily in taking down the group of responsible people. He is also the only one who knows Emily's motive of moving back to the Hamptons, this also means that he knows all about Amanda.

Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler) is just an ordinary son of a tavern's owner. He is Emily's childhood friend. Jack falls for Amanda (Emily's birth name) and named his boat after her. Ahhh, how sweet! He doesn't recognize Amanda all grown up, but Amanda's dog (which now belongs to Jack) does.

Now, now, you will surely recognize him if you watch Gossip Girl. And yes, he is Connor Paolo, who played Serena van der Woodsen's little brother. In Revenge, he is Jack's younger brother, Declan. Declan has a thing for Charlotte (Christa B.Allen), who happens to be a Grayson. He tries to impress her in many ways that he is capable of, financially.

Revenge definitely become one of my favorite new tv series. It has almost everything that I ever wanted for in a tv series: dark, drama, mystery, romance, suspense...just to name a few. Oh yeah, and a bit of eye candy to drool over with! Hahah.

Gosh, I've been slacking, a lot. My bad. I promise I will be an efficient blogger from today onward aye? My sem break officially started on last Monday, which means I have whole two months plus of holiday! Well sort of, because I will be taking up a few training courses, and returning to college for some meetings, blablablah. There goes my holiday before Year 2 huh? Urgh, as long as I am free from assignments and shyts from the lecturer, this holiday will do just fine.

Alrighty, this post was supposed to be up like two months ago. It was Kone's farewell trip to Melacca as he is going to UK for a year. Missing him! :( As for the one-day trip, we did what everyone would do when they visit Melacca - eat, eat, and eat. Hahah. OMG, the mile crepe was really good! I'm so going to grab a few more when I return, which is this weekend! Oh yea, I'm going to Melacca and Johor this coming weekend! Here I come, chicken rice, durian puff, cendol, and mile crepe!

Am lazy. So I will just merge two trips into one post. Geez. This one was to the North - Penang. It was tiring, but AWESOME! Tiring because we had to wake up like 3 in the morning to go to the airport. Oh yeah, we went by flight! This saved us from having a pain in the ass for 4-5 hours drive. Nothing to do much in Penang except for eating, eating, and eating. Lmao. We were too bored that we watched two movies for two days -Trespass and The Thing. Trespass was totally a crappy movie. I rate it 6/10. Not worth your time, unless you are totally bored and nothing else to do, like us. Hahah. Next movie was The Thing. This film grosses your mind out. Don't eat while watching The Thing because there are really gruesome parts, but quite fascinating though, wtf. I'm giving it a 7/10. On the night before our flight back to KL, we stayed up all night playing poker cards and slurping maggie cups. Ahhh, what a memorable moment. Totally doing it again someday.

So, this sums up pretty much for both trips. Not many photos though, because I'm lazy to upload and Blogger is taking like forever. Till then.

k-drama 9 - protect the boss

I find this new k-drama hilarious and I never had a dull moment, so far. Totally enjoy watching it as it is quite different from other k-dramas that I've watched. Of course, there are also two hot guys in the drama to drool over with. Hahah. Okay, it is still about romance and wealth, but the story line is far more interesting and funnier than others, which makes it more addictive.

Noh Eun Seol (Choi Kang Hee) is the woman! With a little knowledge of martial arts and an extraordinary strength, Eun Seol is able to kick asses without difficulty. However, this capability of hers could not help her in finding a job.

After going through a number of interviews, Eun Seol finally gets a job as a professional secretary, which is also her dream job as an office woman. Eun Seol is very grateful for being hired by Cha Mon Won (Hero) but her boss, Cha Ji Heon (Ji Sung) constantly gives her a hard time. As time passes by, Eun Seol finds herself falling for Ji Heon. However, she couldn't accept him as she knows her position as a secretary and it is her job to assist her rebellious boss and not falling in love with him.

Ji Sung as Eun Seol's boss, Cha Ji Heon. Ji Heon is the stubborn heir of a chaebol family. His attitude may be child-like, but he is an intelligent guy who knows what he is doing. Ji Heon is very concern with hygiene and easily gets dizzy in big crowds. He's aware of his condition but somehow couldn't deal with it until Eun Seol gives him a hand to overcome it. Ji Heon also constantly express his love towards Eun Seol and tries hard to win her heart. He gets really jealous when Moo Won asks Eun Seol out.

Ji Sung is so adorable in this drama! He's role is totally different from the one in Royal Family, and I prefer the cute Ji Sung more!

Hero as Cha Moo Won, the "prince of the business world". Moo Won is Ji Heon's cousin. They often quarrel over business and women. They tend to fall for the same woman, first it was Na Yoon (Wang Ji Hye) then Eun Seol. Moo Won is also a mummy's boy, his mother frequently argues with his uncle, whom is also the chairman and Ji Heon's old man.

This is also Hero's first drama, which I think he did a pretty good job in his role as the charming prince which everyone adores.

Seo Na Yoon (Wang Ji Hye) is the pretty one with money and high education. She is Ji Heon's ex-girlfriend and Moo Won's ex-love interest. For the first time, I enjoy the third party's existence. Na Yoon's totally NOT a bitch. Why did I say so? Most of the time, the third party tends to be the irritating and annoying bitch that tries to break up the couple with dirty tactics and what not, but Na Yoon doesn't and never will try the ugly intentions or tricks because of her personality. She may dislike Eun Seol but she did not find fault on her as she knows that it's her fault for dumping both Ji Heon and Moo Won at the first place. Although she still cares for Ji Heon, she lets him go as she knows that she has no chance to gain him back.

Na Yoon cries easily, which I think it is funny when she cries. Hahah. Not that I'm heartless or anything, but it's really hilarious when she cries over little things.

I hope this two will be together in the drama and not as "good friends".

After our last paper of finals, we headed to Ampang's Korean Village for a Korean feast. It's called Korean Village mainly because there are many Korean restaurants around that area, about 15 to 20 restaurants I think. We ended up at Jal Dae Ji because I was craving for their kimchi soup. Ngek ngek ngek. Their soup is simply delicious, that's it if you are a sour and spicy person.

The vegs are to be wrapped with the meats along with sesame oil, garlic, soy sauce, and a small green chili.

Side dishes or Banchan.
I think all of the Korean restaurants serve different side dishes, some with sugar fried anchovy or fried potatoes or fried taufu etc. The standard one is the kimchi. The best side dishes I had so far was at Seoul Korea Restaurant, which I dropped by on the same week with the parents. Two Korean meals in a week! What a treat!

Tadah, my favorite kimchi soup, serves best with rice. It costs RM18. Three of us ordered this since I was praising highly on this dish.

Spicy Korean rice cake is a must order. RM30+

Not forgetting the marinated pork and chicken too. The waiter will grill the meats for us, which I thought it's a good thing because they grill it better than we do. In Jal Dae Ji, they use charcoals instead of gas, so the meats have this smoky charcoal flavor in them. Arhhh. Yum.

We were the last customers before they close at 3.30pm.

After our late lunch, we went to the nearest shopping mall, Ampang Point for tea, but we ended up bowling instead because they were having a promotion, BUY 2 FREE 3. What a bargain right? Maybe because it's the Muslim's puasa period.

Like a pro...hahaha.

tv-series: teen wolf

Sad to say, but the suburban housewives of Wisteria Lane are biding farewell after the 8th season, which is set to begin on 25th September in the U.S. It is kind of unexpected because it was said that this hit series, Desperate Housewives would last until the 9th season. The news was confirmed by ABC.

Owhhhh no more juicy gossips from the neighborhood! :(

On the bright side, MTV released a new teen drama recently - Teen Wolf. It is inspired by the original 1985 film with the same name. Yeah, there are quite a number of movies and series on werewolves and vampires already, The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, and Twilight, just to name a few. I thought this drama was going to be like very teenager-kind since it is called "Teen" Wolf, duh, but is sure surprises me in almost every episodes and it is darker and slightly scarier to be called a series for teenagers.

The 2011 Teen Wolf stars Tyler Posey (remember the cute young boy from Maid in Manhattan?), Dylan O'Brien, Crystal Reed, Tyler Hoechilin, Holland Roden and Colton Haynes.

Total episodes of Season 1: 12

(Urgh, 12 is too short for me.)

Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, the 16 year-old boy who was bitten by an Alpha and turned into a young werewolf. Scott becomes stronger, faster and angrier as he grows. Scott has to control his anger frequently to avoid hurting those he cares, especially his lover, Allison and his best friend, Stiles. At the mean time, he is hunting for the Alpha who changed his life forever with a little help from his "frenemy", Derek. He also always has to keep an eye away from the Argent's silver bullets.

No doubt that Scott McCall is the perfect role for Posey. His six pack may not as eye candy as Taylor Lautner's from Twilight, Posey sure have this boyish cute look which I believe almost every girl would fall for. I mean, look at those adorable brown eyes! Ahhh. Heart melts.

Scott is very lucky to have Stiles who really cares about him and risks his life to help Scott even though the werewolf Scott tries to gobbled him up every time. And of course Allison, the only one who is able to calm Scott down when he is about to turn into a wolf. The lovebirds look cute together, don't they?

Crystal Reed as Allison Argent, the new mysterious girl in school and also Scott's sweetheart. This is where things get interesting - her family are the werewolves hunters, which she soon discovers. Because of her complicated family history, she has to struggle with her family background and the human-lycanthrope romance.

I bet that Allison will take over her aunt's place and become a professional werewolves hunter in the next season. It has to be, right? Since it's her family thing and it is in her blood. Allison is also talented with bows and arrows, this add some points to the hunter-to-be "prophecy", eh?

Stiles Stilinski is played by Dylan O'Brien. Stiles is Scott's best friend since childhood (but it seems like Stiles is his only friend in the series). He's a quick thinker and always help Scott. Stiles has a whole lot of balls, he stands up for Scott even when he faces with the Alpha and the gruesome Derek. Stiles also has a major crush on Lydia. She's like a goddess to him. He gets jealous when Lydia is into Scott. Awww. Stiles' old man is the cop who is in charge of the murder case of Derek's sister.

I just love Stile's effortlessly smirks and his funny expressions! Okay, we haven't see him shirtless yet, but hey, there's still a chance right? Maybe in Season 2, fingers crossed! And it's hard to find a true friend like him. I mean, how many normal people who still hang out with their best friend after they discover their best friend is a superhuman that could be deadly dangerous when their mood goes out of control? Most of them would be scared off! But not Stiles, he's the man yo!

Tyler Hoechilin as Derek Hale, the natural-born Beta. He's in town to hunt for the ones who are responsible with his sister's death, which turns out to be the Alpha. He couldn't take down the Alpha on his own, thus he demanded the teen Beta, Scott to assist him. Derek also has a romance history with Allison's aunt.

I wonder where Derek's loyalty will lie after he becomes the Alpha. Is he going to be the good or bad wolf since he's the strongest werewolf in town now.

Lydia Martin (Holland Roden) was the popular girl in school before she was dumped cruelly by Jackson for his "big change". She is also Allison's close friend.

During the season finale, she was bitten by the Alpha. There are a few possibilities of outcomes: whether she will die, become a female werewolf, or "something more". Stiles and Scott poked into her ICU room and noticed that her wounds are not healing like a werewolf's. If she isn't a werewolf, then what is she? But the Alpha said that she will either die or become a werewolf? And what is it about Allison's visions of bloody Lydia? Shoot me now, I can't wait for next year already!

Jackson Whittemore (Colton Haynes) is the co-captain of the school's lacrosse team, in which he was supposed to be the captain, but Scott took that away from him. This makes Jackson hates him more. Jackson threatens Scott to turn him into a werewolf after he found out about Scott's secret. He wants to be as strong and as fast as Scott, but he doesn't realize or care about the consequences even though Scott told him about the Argent's family. Jackson even made an attempt to be close with Allison to freak Scott out.

Woke up by the maid at 5.30am today, uuuurghhhh! I couldn't get back to sleep so I decided to blog since I've been out of the loop for quite some time already. :S Am still having my final exam, 3 down 2 to go, then break for 2 weeks! Damn excited!

Big gathering with the old peeps at Sweet Chat, Mid Valley. More than 10 people showed up, consider big already. Heh. It's not easy to gather them since most of them study overseas, we haven't been seeing each other for like what, 8 years already!

The 12 of us wanted to go somewhere fancy and something we never try before to celebrate the big guy's day, so Bumbu Bali it is. I guess most people know this place because it is famous for Balinese cuisine at Bandar Puteri,Puchong.

The food is quite similar to local taste so I think Malaysians would enjoy them, especially those dishes with herbs and lemongrass. As for the portion, it's rather large for most Malaysians. Some of us couldn't finish our dish, but thanks to Steven with his huge appetite, he managed to gobbled it all for us. Most dishes priced around RM20-35, quite reasonable I guess since the portion is huge. For beverages, we ordered 2 large jars of Bumbu Bali's house drink - Barley Lime. I love the taste of it that I drank 3 cups that night!

The interior design is pretty cool and comfy, except for the super dim lights that annoyed me because I wasn't able to see my menu well, oh, maybe it's just my eye problem. Anyway, the restaurant is nicely decorated with small candles and bits and pieces of Bali, so pretty and romantic! And oh, they have these antique-feel white umbrellas that really attracts the customers. The only downfall is the lighting and oh-no-mirrors in their washroom! The management should really consider placing mirrors because some customers, like me, like to see their pretty face. Lol.

Due to the constant pressure from her "bestfriend", Soo Ran (Hong Soo Hyun), Ah Jung lied about being married. This "announcement" is huge as Ah Jung has not once reveal about her "husband" to any of her friends. Soo Ran doubted it as she firmly believes that Ah Jung is still love with her husband, Jae Boem (Rye Seong Soo).

At the same time, Ah Jung met World Hotel's CEO, Ki Joon, and the rumour of them secretly married starts to spread. Things become complicated when Ki Joon's ex-fiancee returns to Korea unexpectedly after 3 years and Ah Jung has fall in love with Ki Joon.

I think Ah Jung is quite pity as she was betrayed by her bestfriend. After she gets over with Jae Boem, she can't help but falls for a guy who has a lover, this makes a love triangle. Is it a trend for 3 people to have some sort of romantic relationship in Korea? Because most of the k-dramas have this similar love triangle concept, and yet, people like me still like to watch them. :P

Hyun Ki Joon (Kang Ji Hwan) is Ah Jung's fake husband. He has the whole package - wealth, looks, and better yet, a caring person. After his parents died in an accident, he is left with his aunt and a younger brother, Sang Hee (Sung Joon). He cares deeply for his brother, that is why he decided to call off his own wedding with Yun Joo (Jo Yun Hie) as he knows that Sang Hee is also in love with her.

Ki Joon always handle things well, but not in relationships. He struggled at first as he doesn't really know what to do with Ah Jung and Yun Hie. Ki Joon then decided to be with Ah Jung, but he is also concern about Yun Joo's feelings. wtf?

Some fans may like Ji Hwan's character, but I think he's a total bad ass. I couldn't understand how he could falls for someone in such a short time while still n love with another girl who was his wife-to-be??? Alright, maybe he has been apart with Yun Joo for a few years, but if he really loves her, he shouldn't be attracted to Ah Jung at the first place and make things complicated!

Yun Joo is one lucky girl I guess as she is loved by two wealthy brothers. But too bad for her when she was dumped by Ki Joon not once, but TWICE! I think she's better off without Ki Joon and goes for the younger brother who is still madly in love with her no matter what happens.

Unlike his older brother, Sang Hee is more of a carefree person. He often hangs around with Ah Jung and helps her in many ways. He seems to be lost as he doesn't really know what to do with his life. He has like, no goals or whatsoever. Yeah, Sang Hee and Yun Joo look more like a couple.

We went to Hoi Tong Steamboat at Sri Kembangan for lkc's birthday a few weeks ago. It was our first time there except for Mai Mai who highly recommended this place. My dad used to bring the family to the seafood restaurant, which is just next to Hoi Tong, but I didn't realized that there's this steamboat/bbq buffet restaurant. They have a variety of vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood including crabs, oysters, prawns, fish, etc. The price is reasonable too! RM 26 per adult, RM13 per child. So worth it! Enough of crapping, time for pictures:

49 Days ended just last week. I'm quite disappointed that they "killed" Ji Hyun and the scheduler! I thought it would be a happy ending since Ji Hyun was able to collect 3 drops of tears in the end. Poor Hang Kang who loses Ji Hyun all over again. I also dislike the part where they suddenly stated that Yi Kyung as Ji Hyun's older sister. What? They didn't even give the audience a slightest hint before that! And they left Hang Kang and Yi Kyung as good friends. The ending was so unexpected.

Glad to see Jang Na Ra is back for another KBS drama! It's been awhile since her last KBS drama, Wedding, starred Ryu Si Won (ahhh, heart melts).

Baby-faced Beauty is like specially tailored for Na Ra because its about a baby-faced woman.

Na Ra plays a 34 years-old fashion designer wannabe, Lee So Young. She has been working her ass of for years in order to achieve her dream - designing clothes that makes her customers happy. However, she was kicked off by her previous company before she gets to do it. Because of her age and low education qualification, she couldn't find a proper job to pay off her family debts. Her only advantage is her youthful look.

So Young has no choice but to disguised as her 25 years-old sister, So Jin (Oh Yeon Seo) to get a position in The Style. Since then, she lives in a fearful life in The Style because of her big fat lie.

Besides that, for a woman who hasn't been in a relationship before, So Young gets along well with men. She gets not one, but two hunky men to fall for her.

I think So Young is a little too modest. She's like always looking at her toes where ever she goes. Okay, maybe because of her saddled life and what not, but I think she, as a future designer or so should have some confidence in herself.

Daniel Choi the hunky number 1 in Baby-faced Beauty!

He plays The Style's MD, Choi Jin Wook who came from a wealthy family, but he left his home as he has a disagreement with his father. He has no goals before he met So Young, who is older than him.

Jin Wook has a crush with his junior, Yun Seo who recently returns to Korea and then works in the same company as him. However, he slowly develops feelings for So Young after hanging out with her frequently. He helps her in many ways so So Young could achieve her dream. Jin Wook doesn't know So Young's real age yet though.

Ji Seong Il (Ryu Jin) is the president of The Style. His employees are all afraid of him as he is being referred as a mean and strict boss. He has a young daughter from his previous marriage.

He is close with Yun Seo and it is rumored that they are getting married. However, Seong Il starts to find So Young unique and has a pleasant feeling for her as she also makes his daughter happy. This is where things get complicated among the four main characters.

I bet everyone dislikes Kang Yun Seo (Kim Min Seo). She is So Young's new designer team leader who totally hates So Young's guts. This is because she finds So Young's a threat to her career and love. Things get worse when she finds out about So Young's true age and tries to reveal it to everyone.

Ji Joon Hee (Hyun Young) is a minor character in Baby-faced Beauty. But I'm totally fond of her! I finds her personality funny and interesting.

Joon Hee is Seong Il's younger sister. She's also So Young best girlfriend.

It's so nice if they become a couple in the drama! They would make a fun couple. Come on, Jin Wook, give your best shot!

Review: Pirates of the Caribbean 4

Who would have thought Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides aka Pirates 4 would be so much fun even though our favorite love birds, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) did not return for the fourth installment? I must say, I didn't miss their absence at all as Johnny Depp and others brought the audience much pleasant adventure than I have expected.

The addition to the cast, Angelica played by Penelope Cruz is Jack's ex-lover. She disguised as Jack to recruit a crew in search of Fountain of Youth to rescue her dying father, Blackbeard. In case you haven't noticed, Penelope looks rounder and puffier in the movie due to her pregnancy. Her younger sister, Monica had to stand in for her in some scenes. To be frank, I didn't notice the differences between the two sisters until I read the trivia.

Angelica's father, Blackbeard (Ian McShane) is a cruel pirate who owns Queen Anne's Revenge. He treats his crew badly and turned some of them into zombies. He also has a special sword that carries power.

After he received a prophecy that he is to be killed by a one-legged man (it is said to be Captain Barbossa, yes, he survived in Pirates 3, but he lost a leg), he becomes obsessed with finding the Fountain of Youth. Blackbeard knows a little black magic which he uses it against Jack to force Jack to bring him to the Fountain of Youth.

Besides the addition of Angelica, the Spanish who are determined to destroy the Fountain of Youth, the reappearance of Jack the evil monkey, zombies, there are, of course, the mermaids! This is the best thing in Pirates 4. The mermaids scene is exciting and I wish there were more scenes of them. :(

They need two chalices and a mermaid's tear for the ritual. Anyone who drinks the chalice with the tear will have eternal youth, whereas the other will die instantly. Syrena, played by Astrid Berges Frisbey, is the unfortunate mermaid that was captured by Blackbeard and his crew.

Besides the rocking romance between Jack and Angelica, there's another romance going on between the missionary, Phillip (Sam Clafin) and the young mermaid, Syrena. Phillip fell in love with her and tries to rescue her. He is the one who named the mermaid.

Pretty,

yet deadly.

Beware of killer's kiss!

I think Pirates 4 is easy to watch and fun. No disappointment in Jack's adventure and the mermaid hunt.And ooh, Penelope Cruz and Geoffrey Rush did their roles well too. Totally giving it two thumbs-up for Pirates 4. Can't wait for Pirates 5&6 already!

Celebrated with the family at a non-fancy seafood restaurant at Petaling Jaya.
Wong Poh Restaurant's signature dish - butter cheese crabs in claypots is the best crab dish I've eaten so far! It is serve with thick and sticky butter cheese sauce that makes you go gaga. We went on Mother's Day so the restaurant was super crowded. Fortunately we were able to get a table although we didn't even make a reservation.

Sorry, I didn't capture any pictures as we were mad starving.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAI!

Mai's big TWO ZERO has finally arrived on 24th April 2011. Yay! The few of us celebrated for her a week after the actual date, put the blame on me, because I went to Selangor during the weekdays. My apology. Hope she had a great one that whole day! Since she's the queen of the day, she gets to pick her favorite restaurant to dine...Grandmama's, Pavilion. The food there are good but overpriced. Well, we paid for the pleasant environment, tax, and services, so every dish is doubled the price of the usual ones you get in hawker stalls. Chilled out with coursemates and our Statistics lecturer after the disastrous Mathematics 1 final exam at Mid Valley on last Friday. You might be wondering why I said "disastrous".Well, first of all, we (and I mean ALL the students who are taking Mathematics 1 this semester) find that the lecturer sucks to the bottom of the never ending bottom...er, you know what I'm trying to say right? No? Nevermind. Anyway, we dislike the lecturer because it was hard to communicate with him and he simply marks our papers. He doesn't accept any other mathematical methods except his. He's disorganized and totally a pain in the ass during his classes. Urrghhhh! I wish, no, scratch that, WE wish we wouldn't need to see him in the following semesters. *keeping fingers crossed. Enough of the bitching, let's go back to the main topic...

Song Yi Kyung (Lee Yo Won)

I find her pathetic and at the same pitiful in the drama. Yi Kyung's life become miserable and sad ever since her love one died in an accident. She couldn't accept the fact and has been living as a zombie for 5 years. She works night shifts in a convenience store and lives on cup noodles every day. Her daily routine is basically eat-sleep-work.

She doesn't socialize as she feels there's no reason to. In short, she's living for no reason at all. I know it's hard to face it when your lover or family member died, but it is just so wrong if you decide not to get over with because the living has to move on instead of staying put on the same spot for a half decade.

Shin Ji Hyun (Nam Gyu Ri)

Ji Hyun comes from a wealthy family. She has everything she wanted but her world falls apart when she met an accident which puts her in a coma. Ji Hyun is then given a second opportunity to "get her life back" if she is able to collect 3 drops of tears from those who truly loves her apart from her family members in 49 days. To do so, she is allowed to "enter" Yi Kyung's body when Yi Kyung is asleep.

Before the accident, Ji Hyun is naive. She believes that everyone will be fond of her if she always treat them good. However, she realized that she was wrong. She was disappointed as she thought her close friends would genuinely cry for her but they think she overdone with her kindness towards them. Adding salt to the wound, she found out that her fiance, Min Ho is not what she think he is. She tries to save her father's company from falling into wrong hands.

Shin In Jung (Seo Ji Hye)

In Jung is one of Ji Hyun's best girlfriends since high school. In Jung is in love with Min Ho since he rescued her in the alley from being kidnapped years ago. She and Min Ho then plot something awful in order to get want they desired. Their plan almost didn't work out when Ji Hyun met a car crash.

Han Kang (Jo Hyun Jae)

Han Kang loves Ji Hyun since he transfer to her high school but he doesn't have the guts to express himself to her. Ji Hyun gets upset as she thinks Han Kang always bully her. He owns a small restaurant which he then employs Yi Kyung. He is surprised when he eventually sees Ji Jyun's behavior and attitude in Yi Kyung.

Kang Min Ho (Bae Soo Bin)

Min Ho is Ji Hyun's fiance and they were about to get married in a few days before the accident. He's In Jung partner in crime. They have been planning to overtake Ji Hyun's father's company for years. Marrying Ji Hyun is a part of their plan. Min Ho is also a playboy as he likes Ji Hyun, In Sung, and Yi Kyung.

Scheduler (Jung Il Woo)

Jung Il Woo plays the funny scheduler in the drama who guides Ji Hyun during the 49 days. He also has a past with Yi Kyung.

I noticed that I rarely blog about my life as a university student, so here it is.

Most UCSI students dread University Life, one of the most boring and full-of-crap compulsory subject in our college. Yea, I was definitely against it too as the fee is also the highest among the subjects I've taken so far. There are no quiz, tests, examinations, or whatsoever in this subject. HOWEVER, there are so many troublesome assignments! Total 3. Not a big number I know, but the time and effort we put in it was unbearable. I soon realized that this subject is pretty useful to university students and it was quite an experience for us participating in the previous charity event a few months ago and this final project, University Life Showcase on 5th April 2011.

Many lecturers came to our booth. Didn't expect them to come as we were told there would be only 3 lecturers evaluating us.

I like Ben's group, their handmade stuff were so creative and adorable! They even gave me one of those handmade CD cases. :)

Thorn Birds is a sad, pitiful and tragic k-drama. It's about two best girlfriends who go separate ways in order to achieve their goals. As usual, one of them is the bitch, guess who? This drama is totally cliche, the story is just too easy to read.

Han Hye Jin plays the good-hearted Seo Jung Eun. Her objective is to become a famous actress so she could find her biological mother. Jung Eun's best friend from childhood is Yu Kyung. She helps Yu Kyung unconditionally and treats her well although Yu Kyung always disappoints her. Jung Eun also has a crush on Young Jo.

The drama's villain, Han Yu Kyung is played by Kim Min Jung. You'll definitely feel like kicking her ass in the drama. The value of friendship isn't in her. She betrays and exploits Jung Eun in order to get what she wants. Yu Kyung leads a sad life. She's resented by her famous birth mother since young. Not only that, she gave birth to a child with the man she then hates.

Wheeee. The hot guy from Spring Waltz! Seo Do Yeong plays the another rich hunk, Choi Kang Woo who adores Jung Eun. Howcome the guys always have to be the wealthy ones whereas the ladies get the pity poor characters??? Is this a tradition or smth? Urghhh.

Her target now is to take over her father's company, with the help of Do Hyun. In Hye is a total bitch who's responsible for Do Hyun's and Jung Yun's breakup. But thanks to her, there's a chance for the relationship between Jung Yun and Myung Joon to blossom. Argghhh..why their names sounds so similar?!

I assume this is everyone's favorite character in Midas - Yoon Myung Joon (Noh Min Woo of My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox). Totally H.O.T. Too bad he's a playboy in this drama, but his attitude changes when he met Jung Yun. Myung Joon is also from the Yoo family, which means he is rich and everything. However, his father despised him for some reasons. Oh yea, this hot guy has cancer. :(

This was my first time participating in a charity event organized by UCSI Student Affairs with the partnership of Maxis. 13 teams visited 25 orphanages and old folks home around Klang Valley. It was a pretty huge project organized by Sharon.
For my team, there were 10 members of different countries and races. If not mistaken, I think there were only 3 Malaysians, 4 Iranians, and the remaining ones were from China. Nicole and Tsu Yin were our facilitators for that day. Our group went to an orphanage at Kepong, and an old folks home at Loke Yew road. Thank goodness for the short distance because our van's air conditioner wasn't working well that day. Phewww. And we were the earliest team to arrive UCSI after the visits! Woots!
At the old folks home. No medias were allowed so we only took a few pictures among ourselves. This was our first time as volunteers!

At the orphanage. We didn't do much there because we arrived late. We just played a few games and took lots of pictures with them. The younger children were totally adorable! They were so shy when we talked to them. =X

Let's make a difference!

The experience was one-of-a-kind. It's hard to describe the feeling when you help others out. You gotta experience it yourself. I think the event was a major success as it also allows students to develop a culture of lifelong volunteering.

Micky looks up to his older half-brother Dicky Eklund (Christian Bale) who is also Micky's trainer and hero. Dicky here is an ex-boxer who is famous for knocking Sugar Ray Leonard down. HBO then makes a documentary about his life after the success.

Amy Adams plays Charlene, the bartender who Micky fell in love with. Charlene is a former college drop-out for her drinking issues. She understands Micky's problems as a boxer can't get enough of his family struggles. Darn Amy, she's fuckin' great in her fuckin' role who keep fuckin' throughout the movie.

The lovely-dovey couple who brings out the only romance in the film.

Nods for Bale. It is hard to imagine Bale in Batman suit turns to one of a hell crack addict in The Fighter. He plays it a little too overacted but still enough for him to win a big Oscar for his role.

Am no fan of boxing movies, but darn The Fighter was one great film. I felt that the fighting scenes are too quick and lack of drama and tension in it, even though the movie is nearly 2 hours long. What? David O Russell ain't no fan of sucker punch? There are not enough winning punches there! A movie about boxing should have more fights/punches that woos people.

Brotherly hug me likey. The woman behind is Melissa Leo who plays the raging temperament mother, Alice. Damn, idk how she could bore so many children!

Geezzz, how time flies! I'm now officially a young adult! Turned 20 on 16th February and yet I don't look like one. Hahah. Celebrated with Mai and Jenn after class on Friday at Pavilion and Fahrenheit. Since I started my Degree this year, I have lesser time to hang out at the malls with friends. Somehow, I managed to squeeze a lil' spot to celebrate my bday. :)

For dinner, we went to the new Korean restaurant at Fahrenheit. It was at the 2nd floor if not mistaken. I tried it once at Mid Valley and the k-food was yummeh. They serve lots of non-spicy food, which I thought it is rare because most Koreans love spicy food. The price was affordable too.

Appetizers for each of us. The kimchi is kind of spicy though.

Seafood soup green noodles? Don't remember what is it called in Korean but it was fresh and tasty.

Mixed rice, our favorite. There are two versions I think, one with the pot and another with the bowl. We ordered the pot one since it looked more appetizing.

This noodles looked so spicy, nah, it's sweet. Not very sweet, just the right amount of sweetness. I don't know whether we should mix it or not. Do we?

Must order! Korean rice cake. Mad love.

Review: Burlesque

Show me how you Burlesque!

Starring both divas with strong vocals Christina Aguilera and Cher, Burlesque brings a concert-like feel rather than a film. It's about a small town girl, Ali (Aguilera) who left her home for Los Angeles to pursue her dream as a showgirl. She's pretty confident herself as a performer and is determined to get a job at Tess's (Cher) Burlesque. However, Tess somehow could not "see" Ali as a showgirl, thus rejected her flatly. Ali argues her way out to get on stage, and she gets a part when one of the showgirls is pregnant.

Nikki (Kristen Bell) does not see eye to eye on Ali the moment she first met her. She's totally a bad ass in Burlesque. This is the first time seeing Kristen Bell playing a role that is not on comedy or romance. Good girl gone bad huh?

Bartender Jack (Cam Gigandet) whom Ali met and helps her to find the way from "over here" to "over there". He's also kind enough to let Ali stay at his apartment even though he's engaged with his long-distance fiance, Natalie (Dianna Argon). I was surprised when Dianna Argon appears during the almost-ending part! Love her in Glee! Alright, back to the movie, Jack develops some feelings for Ali but he's too chicken to let her know, Ali thus turns to the regular customer of Burlesque, Marcus (Eric Dane). Marcus is a successful businessman who tries to get his hand on Burlesque.

Burlesque is how you define H.O.T. It's hundred and ten percent seductive and sexy. The story is a cliche though, not to mention the relationships between Jack and Ali, Tess and Ali, Nikki and Ali - very predictable. Both divas are singers, not actresses. So don't expect much from their acting values.

For the performances, from "Express", "Show Me How You Burlesque" to "Bound To You", you just can't get tired of Xtina's powerful vocals. But Cher only gets a couple of moments. I've been non-stop listening to her hit "You Haven't Seen The Last of Me" ever since.

Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin) runs a department store which his family owns. He is the whole package of what every girl wants. He's not only wealthy, intelligent, and fashionable, he's also good-looking. The only flaw is that he is arrogant.

He falls for Gil Ra Im (Ha Ji Won) after meeting her for the first time by mistake. Since then, he is crazy over Ra Im and thinks of her frequently.

Though he is said to be fashionable, he frequently wears a shiny blue sweater which is made in Italy (or is it made by an Italian designer? Hmmm, I can't remember, of all I know the sweater is frigging ugly). Ra Im always tease him about it.

Ra Im is a stunt actress who is completely opposite of Joon Won. Ra Im is humble, quiet, yet strong-willed. She hates Joo Won's guts and tries to ignore him as much as she could. Ra Im acts like a guy, mainly because her colleagues at the action school are men. However, the tomboy, surprisingly, is a big fan of Oska, played by Yoon Sang Hyun. She even wears socks that have a tiny picture of Oska on it.

Oska's a celebrity and a womanizer. Both Oska and Joon Won are rivals. It's funny to see the conflict between the two cousins. Ra Im turns timid and shy whenever she's around Oska, which pretty annoys Joon Won.

Supporting actress, Yoon Seul (Kim Sa Rang) is a well-educated CF director. She also comes from a wealthy background. Yoon Seul gets whatever she wants and she seems to be Joon Won's ideal partner. However, Joon Won shows no interest in her. Yoon Seul and Oska were ex-lovers but she intends to keep it as a secret from Joon Won.

Jong Soo (Philip Lee) is Ra Im's boss who treats her as his own "family". He sincerely cares for her and thinks of her feelings first. Aw. Sadly, I am totally not into guys with long hair. Heh.

The first few episodes bores me. It only becomes exciting and hilarious when Joo Won's and Ra Im's souls are exchanged in episode 4 or 5, which everyone long awaits. They definitely make a good couple, don't they? Too bad that Joo Won's snobbish mother comes to their way later on. : /

Review: The King's Speech

Finally, I managed to find some time to blog on my most hectic month of the semester and it's only the first semester for my degree Year 1. Bloody hell, I even have to sit for Mathematics 1 midterm paper on my birthday next week. What a birthday gift from the lecturer. I won't mind if it's not the day I turn big TWO ZERO. Anyway, thanks to Nuffnang and TGV Cinemas, I've just collected 4 complimentary movie passes this evening, which makes my day! :)

Actually, I was finishing my assignment until the neighbours start firing fireworks and firecrackers at 12 a.m. sharp in conjunction of Chap Goh Mei. Chap Goh Mei is derived from the Hokkien dialect, which means the fifteenth of the first month of the Lunar New Year. It's a tradition which Chinese practices annually. Seriously, the fireworks are longer than we normally see on New Year's Eve. This depicts that Malaysian Chinese are more excited on this day? Hah

I understand why The King's Speech is the big winner of the year after watching it last month. Initially I thought it's going to be a movie that bores your mind for 118 minutes listening to his highness presenting his long speeches. But heck no, it was intelligent, brilliant, and inspiring.

Prince Albert (George VI) is a caring and responsible leader of his nation, and he always answers the calls of his duty. The only problem of Bertie is that he can barely finish a speech without strangling on his own words, and due to that, he's often frustrated and angered. His wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) then brings him to an Australian speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush).

After swallowing a huge marble in his previous therapy and years of stammerings with or without therapy sessions, Bertie has loss his faith. But Lionel has his own ways to make things work. He addresses the Duke "Bertie" and teaches him foul language. Bertie is annoyed with Lionel's behavior but he then changes his perspective on Lionel after a few sessions with him.

It's nice to see the warmer side of Helena Bonham Carter after all those Tim Buton-y freaking weird roles and the psycho Bellatrix in Harry Potter. Geoffery Rush definitely earns an applause for his charming performance. Not forgetting the convincing Colin Firth, who gives us pains in our ears for his constant chokes in his speeches. Oh yes, 2011 is surely his year.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this Tom Hooper's masterpiece not only for his great frame shots but also his way to capture the audience by giving a gradual excitement and some soap-drama-like. Also, both Firth and Rush gives us a few laughs throughout the movie and there are also moments that are genuinely inspiring. Not saying that this is the best film in 2011, but it's definitely better than The Kids Are All Right.

Overall rating: A+

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

Today is the day where all the Chinese families sit at a round table having the annual reunion dinner before Chinese Rabbit Year. Unfortunately, I had two bloody classes this afternoon before going to my uncle's place. As expected, the campus was deserted and all the cafeterias were closed. The only souls you could see were the International students' and a few silly Chinese people like me, KY, and Chick Gi. Not that I'm being racist or smth, but normally not many Chinese would want to attend class during this period. For we were so "hardworking", we received a few "ang pows" (red packets) from the lecturer. And the "ang pows" here is referring to assignment and quiz. Wtf right?

Anyway, this is a super duper late post:

My first "yee sang" of the year with my course mates. We, as in 11 Chinese students of ASSA skipped BA tutorial to go for "lou sang" at Sakae Sushi last Tuesday evening. No, we normally don't do that, but this is a special random occasion so...

The "yee sang" was very delicious and the price is reasonable! RM38.88+ for 1 large "yee sang" in Japanese style. As you can see from the picture above, the portion is big enough for about 6-8 pax. Of course, it's not full eating that alone, so we ordered some side dishes and sushi to go along with.

Looking at this pictures make me hungry.
The six of us - Jennifer, Mai, Steven, Chucky, Keng Cheng, and I went to Sushi Zanmai at Fahrenheit on last last Saturday. I wasn't craving for some sushi so I ordered some chicken udon smth instead (center left). *Slurppps. It was yummehhhhh! I'm definitely ordering that dish again. Then, we left to do some shopping at Sg Wang before having our late tea-time at Pavilion. The parking is soooo expensive in Pavilion, like RM15 for only 4.5 hours?!?!

On Monday night (31st January 2011), the Mangoes (don't ask me why we called ourselves Mangoes) went for "lou sang" at Soon Tatt Restaurant. Seriously, the service is damn slow. We ordered the package - 8 dishes and a "yee sang" and still, not filling at all. :( But I enjoyed the steam fish very much! After the feast, we went to Wallace's place to celebrate MK and CWah's birthdays. No Wii this time because there were so many of us. We played some poker instead. :p

k-drama 3 - dream high

The new k-drama that I'm addicted to - Dream High!

Kirin Art High School is just not just any high school. It is school for art and entertainment to build up superstars of Korea.

Even you may have the strong personality, talent, looks, and even wealth, but still, it does not make you any easier to become the next Korean Idol. The six new students of Kirin are up with the challenge.

Ko Hye Mi (Bae Suji of Miss A) has been always a top student in singing. However, her arrogance brings her down. Hye Mi appears to be strong and confident, but deep inside there's an ugly past that she couldn't get over with. Her dream school was Julian High School, but because of her father's debts, she is forced to enroll Kirin.

Somehow, I find Hye Mi's a cold-hard bitch who simply doesn't know how to appreciate her best friend, Baek Hee who always treat her nicely. And I simply don't know wtf is wrong with Sam Dong and Jin Gook who are deeply and crazingly in love with her. Yes, Hye Mi may be talented and beautiful, but her personality just not, erm, attractive.

I like Baek Hee's short hair and her sense of style!

Baek Hee (Eun Jung) is the ex-best girlfriend/ex-follower of Hye Mi who turned into a pretty "monster" after since she was betrayed by Hye Mi. She tries to beat Hye Mi who appears to have everything. At the same time, Baek Hee also tries to win her mother's heart.

Err, who's this chubby girl?

She's IU who plays the overweight student, Kim Pil Suk.

The cute Pil Suk lost some fat in 200 days just to be with her crush, Jason.

I like IU's character because she's soooo cute and funny in the drama!

Now, for the hunks of Dream High...

Jason (Woo Young of 2PM) is an exchange student who enroll in Kirin to pursue his dream. He is the best student in Kirin, so far.

I'm anticipating for the chemistry between Jason and Pil Suk because they make a cute couple!

This is, err, Sam Dong (Kim Soo Hyun) who has the ugliest hairstyle among all. Geez. Well, that's mainly because he has zero sense of style before entering Kirin. Sam Dong lives with his widowed mother in a country side. He then follows his love-at-the-first-sight lover, Hye Mi to Kirin and discover his musical talent there.

If you know Cantonese, you may find the name, Sam Dong sounds funny/weird. I think he's very caring and loving person who cares about his mother and Hye Mi very much and put their feelings as the priority.

Jin Gook (Taec Yeon of 2PM) is a talented dancer who dreams to become a global star. He always appear to be depressed because he is rejected by his wealthy father. Jin Gook and Hye Mi were childhood friends. Like Sam Dong, he has feelings for Hye Mi too.

Review: 127 Hours

A true story based on the biggest fool that I've ever known so far. Oh come on, who would ever go for hiking without telling a soul? Wait, Aron Ralston (James Franco) did that! He went off climbing mountains in Blue John Canyon alone for a weekend in year 2003 without informing his family and friends.

Aron get his right forearm trapped in the canyon when a boulder suddenly fell loose. He struggled to get free but sadly failed. With his food and water running low during the gruesome days, he thought of ways to escape. While being stuck and nothing to do at all, he recalls the two hot chicks he met during the hike, his love, and his family that he ignored. He regretted that he didn't pick up his mother's call before he left for hiking.

I guess that everyone heard this story before. 127 Hours is an adaption of Aron's autobiography, "Between a Rock and a Hard Place". Now that we know Aron being trapped in the deep canyon and all, everyone is dreading for the moment where he was forced to cut off his arm with a dull knife. I forwarded that part because it totally freaked me out. Not that I've never seen bloody scenes before, but hey, this guy has no choice but to chop his arm off!

Now I know why 127 Hours won many awards. Some might find it boring because it's a one-man film. However, I find it interesting and I felt like I was there with him, only that I was watching his moves. James Franco did an outstanding job entertaining himself in the movie and gave us some hilarious moments. With all those editing, soundtrack and all, 127 Hours turned out beautifully. Round an applause to Danny Boyle, the man who brought us Slumdog Millionaire.

BANAZI!!!

I'm glad that I participated in this 3D2N camp at Dusun Eco Resort, Bentong last weekend. Thanks to UCSI Student Council, the campers had an amazing experience. It was also my first time attending a camp with full of spirit.

On the first day, my group was like soul-less and not chatting with each other, but we started to bond with each other when we brainstormed for our group name and cheer. We ended up with BANAZI, which is actually a combination of banana and Nazis. Our group cheer was pretty silly but in a funny way. I like other groups' cheer too for example, NONSENSE (how can they even think of such group name???) and VICTORY. Fyi, there were 9 groups in total.

Although the Eco Park Race 1 and 2 are quite tiring on the second day, we had so much fun completing the challenges. My personal favorite were rafting and the obstacles. There were no rock climbing and flying fox for us though, pretty disappointed because I was looking forward to it. Rock climbing rocks people!

Review: Frozen

It's year 2011 already and I'm not done with the 2010 movies yet!
This is another top movie on my list last year:

"With 30 million skiers and snowboarders in the US and over 5000 chairlifts in operation, its only a matter of time before someone gets left behind."

After Frozen, you might want to think twice before breaking any rules in anywhere. Yeah, some says that rules are meant to be broken. But don't forget, there are reasons why the rules are set on the first place right?

Three friends - Dan (Kevin Zegers of Gossip Girl), Joe (Shawn Ashmore of X-Men), and Dan's girlfriend, Parker went for skiing at a ski resort on a Sunday afternoon.

Due to the bad weather, the resort decides to shut down early. However, the trio refused to leave until they ski for the one last round.

Thanks to some miscommunication, the lift attendant closes down the ski lift before they reach the top, leaving the three friends stranded in their ski lift chair. Not a single soul knows they are stuck up there.

Also, there are no ways of escaping from the chair lift as they are high above from the ground and there are a pack of hungry wolfs growling underneath them.

They felt dreadful thinking that they might have to stuck up there for an entire week. For sure, they couldn't stand the bloody cold weather and the storm. So, they think of some ways to escape before they are frozen to death...

Frozen doesn't need any gun fires, bombs, cars-chasing or any other action-packs to provide terror, tension, and suspense. The film do just fine with what it has for the audience. It is not very surprising, but it is definitely heart-breaking to some viewers. You can never know that the minimal use of actions can also create some sense of horror. Not a big fan of horror movies, but I like this, totally.

Black Swan is wicked.
Directed by visionary director, Darren Aronofsky, this psychological thriller blows your mind away. No wonder it is an award winning piece of art.

Nina (Natalie Portman of V for Vendetta and The Other Boleyn Girl) is a ballet dancer competing for the lead role, the Swan Queen, in Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. She's the perfect white swan, but not suited to play the black swan as she lacks of sex and sizzle for the role.

Nina is the director of the production, Thomas Leroy's (Vincent Cassel) first pick for the white swan, but he has second thought when the new ballerina, Lily (Mila Kunis) swirls in.

With a new rival, Leroy's bullying, her nutty protective mother, and her obsession towards perfectionism all mixing in, Nina is given more stress than she could handle before her opening night. Thus, causing Nina to struggle more often between her hallucination and the reality when she is stressed, but at the same time, developing her dark side.

It seems that Nina's desire to perfectionism has cause her personality to split and corrupted. Yet, giving her the result that she desperately wanted.

In this movie, it's hard to know whether it's the reality or Nina's weird imagination, which I think Aronofsky did a brilliant job with - confusing the audience. Pretty much fascinates me.

For their respective roles, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis are trained for months before the film shooting where their ballet presentations are needed for some scenes.

I admire Portman ever since she shaved her head for V for Vendetta, and I like her even more after Black Swan (although I'm disgusted by Anne Boleyn :s).

I did Korean twice in a week last week! Not as bad as my friends said, you just have to find the right restaurant. The first time I tried was Bee Won at Ampang. It was highly recommended by Anna's Korean friend...so, why not? They serve the best marinated meat but it's quite pricey. I went there with my family last Sunday to celebrate Anna's early birthday. Damn yummeh!

Next was Jal-Dae-Ji with friends on Christmas eve night. The rice cake and kimchi soup rice are superb and the price is reasonable. But the service is very slow, maybe it's because it's Christmas eve. Totally packed, we were lucky because we made a reservation first.

Enough of the crime thrillers, let's move on to some twenty ten comedies:

Easy A

Easy A stars Emma Stone, Penn Badgley from Gossip Girl, Amanda Bynes, and Lisa Kudrow from Friends.

This is just not any typical teenage movie but it is said to be intelligent one that involves a typical teenage girl, Olive Penderghast (Stone) who is unpopular in her school. I don't see why but I think Emma Stone is one pretty actress.

It started off with Olive lying about losing her virginity to a college guy. Her "confession" to her best friend, Rhiannon (Aly Michalka) was overheard by the school's biggest Christian nut, Marianne (Amanda Bynes) who does not see eye-to-eye with Olive.

The rumour soon spread all over the school by Marianne. As her slut reputation grows, Olive sees it as an opportunity to own fame and financial gain. She also started to wear slutty clothing with the scarlet "A" on them, which is inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel, "The Scarlet Letter". Olive then bumped into her old childhood crush, Todd (Penn Badgley) who helped her to get through when things get out of hand.

In Easy A, you can see that Olive is far more intelligent than most of the students in her school by the whip-smart dialogs. She could use the rumour and turns it to a girl power. Now how smart is that? Overall rating: A-

The Switch is about Kassie Larson (Jennifer Aniston) who desperately wants to start a family before it is too late. She found the perfect donor, Roland (Patrick Wilson) and paid him for his sperm. However, Kassie's best friend, Wally (Jeff Goldblum) was upset that she didn't ask from him. Wally has always a thing for Kassie but he ready to commit.

At Kassie's party, Wally was so drunk that he accidentally spilled Roland's sample and he replaced it with his own. But Wally promptly doesn't remember switching it after 7 years when Kassie returns with her son, Sebastian who obviously has similar personality as Wally.

If not for Jennifer Aniston, I won't be watching this film. It was totally disappointing because the storyline isn't what I expected. Not much humour for a comedy movie. Overall rating: B-

Tim (Paul Rudd) is long overdue from promoted to "the 7th floor" but his chance comes when one of his colleagues from the 7th floor is fired. To get the dream job, Tim is required to attend a dinner party with his boss.

Tim is reluctant about attending the dinner at first because it everyone brings along a fool as their guest for their entertainment. Those guests will be mocked and laughed at by the rich people. Tim's girlfriend, Julie (Jemaine Clement) forces him not to participate after learning the agenda of the party.

The following day, Tim stumbles across Barry (Steve Carell) on a car accident where Barry tries to retrieve a dead mouse on the road. Barry is an IRS employee who has a weird hobby. He turns dead mice into cute yet disturbing dioramas. Tim finds him to be the perfect guest so he invited him to the dinner.

However, it became disastrous on the very night because Barry showed up unexpectedly on Tim's apartment. Barry accidentally invited Tim's crazy stalker, Darla (Lucy Punch) over while potentially ruining Tim's relationship with Julie.

Dinner for Schmucks gave us quite a few laughs especially when the nut painter, Kieran (Jemaine Clement) explaining his "work of art". Somehow, I think Steve Carell had overdone it here. I really like what Barry did to the dead mice though, with all those clothing details and giving them second chance, it's amazingly beautiful. Overall rating: B-

CASE #1

"There are over 300 bank robberies in Boston every year. Most of these professionals live in a 1-square-mile neighbourhood called Charlestown."

Directed by Ben Affleck, this crime thriller shows four highly-armed thieves of Charlestown, a neighbourhood of Boston. The robbery gang includes Doug (Affleck), Jem (Jeremy Renner), Gloansy (Slaine), and Dez (Owen Burke).

It started with the foursome robbing a bank at Cambridge, but due to some circumstances, they took the bank manager, Claire (Rebecca Hall) as hostage and released her unharmed after they successfully escaped. However, they soon realized that Claire lives in Charlestown. Doug follows her and slowly falls for her. On the same time, FBI agent, Adam (Jon Hamm) tries to track them down.

Blake Lively plays Doug's ex-girlfriend, Krista who is also Doug's best buddy, Jem's sister. Krista and Doug has a 19 months-old baby. What a hot mama! But they made her looks like a slut in the movie. :o

The Town is based on Chuck Hogan's novel, "Prince of Thieves". I have yet to read the novel so I'm not sure how much the similarities/differences are. If you ask me how's the movie, I would say that it is too much. There are so many looong conversations. The film is about 153 minutes. Super long because I watched the extended version. The normal one is only 125 minutes. On top of that, the characters are full of "fuck", verbally. Gosh, it will be so much better without the vulgar word. Overall rating: A-

CASE #2

Another film about bank robbery.

The gang is made up of John (Paul Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), Jake (Michael Ealy), Jesse (Chris Brown), the former crew member who is released from prison after 5 years, Ghost (T.I), and the leader Gordon (Idris Elba).

As seasonal thieves, the crew decided to take down two armor cars carrying $20 million in cash. This heist is planned by Ghost and they have only a few days to plot out their strategy before striking.
However, the robbery does not goes well as planned, the "takers" flew the scene with detective Jack (Matt Dillion) and his partner, Eddie (Jay Hernandez) on their trail.
Before I watch the film, I've received some negative reviews about the casts' acting. Honestly, it wasn't that awful. However, I still prefer T.I. as a rapper not a gangsta actor. On the other hand, Chris Brown was just 50-50. There are fast-paced gun battles which are not as thrilling as I thought they would be. Overall rating: B

sleepless night

I was trying to sleep an hour ago, but couldn't because I was freaking hungry. So, I made myself a bowl of instant noodles.

I know that it is bad to eat after 9 p.m. but I was super hungry and I don't think a cup of warm milk before bed soothes me, I will end up peeing n times in the middle of the night instead. A packet of curry flavoured maggi, an egg, and a couple pieces of marinated beef will just do the trick.

But after having a late supper, I normally goes on for another two hours before my eyes go heavy. Since most of my friends have already halfway through their sweet dreams, I couldn't find them to chat.

So, I decided to blog about something I've totally forgot about for months - Lee Yeng & Lee Leng 's 20th birthday, which we celebrated on the 23rd October (the twins' birthday according to the Chinese calendar), a month earlier than their actual birthday.

To celebrate our BFF, JKoh's 19th birthday, we went to T.G.I. Friday's at Pavilion:

On the left is "Sea Breeze" or smth, whereas the other is "San Fransisco" or smth...can't remember the name lah, it was like weeks ago.

This dish is our least favourite.

The fish is marinated with lime and some spice and it tastes more like Indian than Western food. It comes with a bowl of fragrant rice too. Sound more Indian now?

I ordered this. Pretty good, just that it has a strong garlic taste in the pasta sauce whereas the salmon is perfecto!

Our favourite dish is the chicken + mashed potatoes.

The dark sweet sauce tastes just like the Teppanyaki's.

Movie of the day:

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader!
Can't say it's the best among the three Narnia movies though because the hunt of the 7 swords is boring. But we have another surprise!

Anyway, B+ for Narnia 3 as it could have been better.

I think the best comedy, or should I say my most favourable comedy movie of the year is...

Wait.....yes, I've checked the movie list of year 2010,

and Meet the Parents: Little Fockers is still at the very top of my list.

This is the 3rd sequel of Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers.

Still the same old "misunderstandings" between Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) and Gaylord/Greg Focker (Ben Stiller), only now that there are a few additional characters: Jessica Alba as the crazingly hot representative of a company and of course, the twins - Henry and Samantha. As usual, Owen Wilson as Kevin Rawley, the unusual. The sad part is that the casts are getting old. :(

I'M WATCHING YOU

Man, this is really good. I'm giving it an A+.

CHCKL's Pins & Needles Christmas Production was absolutely a blast on it's first night, 16th December 2010. It was only the first service, yet there were nearly a thousand people came for the show! It was so crowded in the auditorium that there were about a hundred people have to watch it outside through the LCD projector. "Pins & Needles" is a combination of Broadway and NY theatre styles. Also, there are lots of inspirations from Peter Pan, Adam Lambert, Ip Man 2, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera to Mary Poppins. What a weird mix right? I know. But they blend it together really well. Many people gave positive reviews for it. Here are some photos of the production taken by Punk Man Production:

This is a modern Cinderella tale which is not only about Cinderella but also magnifies her stepsister, Eun Jo (Moon Guen Young). Eun Jo has gone through so many difficulties for her young age. Her mother, Kang Sook has been into numerous unstable relationships until Eun Jo decided to leave her mother for good, but she couldn't do it.
Kang Sook met Cinderella Hyo Sun (Seo Woo) after she left her abusive boyfriend. Hyo Sun is the only child of the owner of a rice wine company. Unlike Eun Jo, Hyo Sun is a spoilt, naive, and ignorant teenager. She leads a happy and simple life until she brings Kang Sook and Eun Jo to her home.
As time goes by, Hyo Sun feels that Eun Jo's taking everything she loves away from her - her father, the rice wine company, and now her crush Hong Ki Hoon (Chun Jung Myung)...things get more complicated after her father suddenly died...
If you're not into sad drama, don't watch this because there are sooooooo many crying scenes!

This is last year's one of the top rated k-dramas (it actually won the Best Korean Drama award for 2009). It's really addictive and oh boy, the A.N.Jell guys are so stylish and yummeh! A.N.Jell is an idol band in the drama that consists of the leader, Tae Kyung (Jang Guen Suk from Beethoven's Virus), Shin Woo (Jang Yong Hwa), and Jeremy (Lee Hong Ki). Mi Nyu (Park Shin Hye) later joins the group posing as her injured twin brother Min Nam. Things get ugly if A.N.Jell and their die hard fans find out Mi Nyu's true identity...
Not only the story is creative and like no any other typical k-dramas, the soundtracks are totally awesome that even my sister bought their original OST album! The best part is UEE plays the idol who also has a thing for Tae Kyung.

Mary Stayed Out All Night aka Mary, Marry Me!

Now now, Moon Geun Young and Jang Geun Suk are paired out to bring out some romance for the k-drama addicts like me.
Moon Geun Young portrays Wi Mae Ri the cheerful and absolutely adorable girl who is forced to marry Jung In (Kim Jae Wook) whom she doesn't even know, let alone love because of the arrangements made by her father. Mary's so upset that her friends came up with a plan: to fake marry rocker Mu Gyul (Jang Geun Suk) whom she met in a car accident...
Mary looks so cuteee with those red shoes that amazingly goes with the wedding dress while Mu Gyul yawns all the way during the photo shoot. Aren't they the cutest couple?
Once again Jang Geun Suk plays the lead singer and I think it suits him best as he has a beautiful voice and you'll know what I mean once you listen to his songs.

The "cool" thing is what everyone are into it now - facebook. It is the hottest social network that was created by genius Mark Zuckerberg years ago and that now he is the youngest billionaire on earth. The Social Network was released in October 2010 (2nd December 2010 in Malaysia). This film is based on the founding of facebook by CEO Zuckerberg and other conflicts he encountered when his website was created.

The Social Network is not bad actually, just that it's best to watch when you are not tired because there are a lot of loooong conversations going on and it's difficult to understand if your mind isn't clear enough. Thanks to Groupsmore and Sharon for giving me an opportunity to watch the first batch special screening last Thursday (18 November 2010), yeaaahhhh!!!! I was grinning ear to ear when I received sms from KC and Sharon because hey, how often do you get premiere movie tickets for FREE??? I hope I can get another invitation soon.

The Social Network is a must-watch for all facebook users.

Watched Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 the next night (19 November 2010). Pretty lucky to get the tickets on the first few days of its screening. :) HP7P1 is quite disappointing actually for I expect more from it. Not much difference from the book and the part where Harry and Hermione in the woods was very drapppyy , it's like nothing much going on there. In short, that part was blardy boring. I noticed that Harry Potter (I'm referring to the movie, not the character) is bolder, darker and gloomier. Is this a good thing? Anyway, I can't wait for the HP7P2 next July!!

But before that, I want to watch Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader:

It's hot right now in Thailand!

Well, that's what I heard from my dad's friend who is generous enough to give us half a dozen of these beauty drinks. :)

The pink collagen "beauti" drink each contains
1,000 mg of collagen (0.30%),
white grape juice from white grape concentrate (10%),

lemon juice from lemon concentrate (2%),

sugar (2%),

citric acid (0.10%), and

apple flavor (0.10%).

The drink tastes fresh and juicy. Though you might think 2% of sugar is too much, it ain't that sweet if compared to those sparkling juice that you can get from supermarkets. The sweetness is just the right amount for me.

Best served after refrigerated.

The light pink-flowered packaging is also very attractive too!

Dad drank a bottle, so 5 bottles left.

The lightening is awful, just bear with it.
